about

Following up his debut EP release on Pinkturban, the sitar-wielding wizard Evan Hatfield returns to the world-music blending electronic label with his next offering, Confused Ravi EP.

'Confused Ravi' is a luscious mix of house, techno and Indian Classical, featuring a seductive sitar performance by Evan himself escorted by deep groovy rhythms and synthesizer syncopations.

The track is inspired by the moment world-renowned sitar player Ravi Shankar finds out that George Harrison of The Beatles is coming to India to study sitar with him. Considering how, at that time, the West generally paid little attention to Eastern culture, it came as a great surprise to Shankar.

Hitting it hard on the B-side is 'Time', a gritty dancefloor track featuring Evan's sitar and intricate oud skills. Both tracks marry a balance of other-worldly soundscapes and tasteful composition that further define this unique new artist.
